ekphrasis of Morning Sun

This was to be her third full day of vacation. When she awoke the place almost felt familiar. She considered the sunlight pouring through the window. She had circled several tourist sites on the hotel map she wanted to visit, but she wasn’t sure this was the day. No, she decided. She would dress in her most comfortable and becoming clothes and, after breakfast, she would walk out of the hotel and take the first street off the main road.

She would see then, and perhaps even be ready, for what came next.
