Agnes flipped through the magazine to find the rest of the article. That movie star scandal was fascinating, and she had to keep up, didn’t she? After all, you had to have something to talk about while you were giving a manicure. Otherwise, the gentlemen might feel embarrassed about having their nails done, and that would surely affect her tips. But a man who was comfortable always tipped well, and Agnes knew how to chat up most any man who dared have a manicure. She might not get rich enough to marry a Vanderbilt, but she made more than her sister did doing women’s nails at the beauty parlor.
